Understanding Drywall Finishes
Level 3 (Utility)
Good for garages or textured walls. Tape and two coats of compound.
Level 4 (Standard)
The industry standard for flat paints. Three coats of compound, sanded smooth.
Level 5 (Premium)
A thin skim coat is applied over the entire surface. This is required for high-gloss paints or areas with critical lighting to ensure absolute smoothness.
